The “blind wedge” technique for secure attachments in the field

Cut a slot into the tenon of the leg and prepare a wedge. The wedge should be as wide as the tenon and slightly shorter than the slot. Insert the wedge into the slot.

Insert the tenon into the hole in your log. I drilled this hole with a scotch auger.

Hammer the leg in. The wedge will spread the tenon open inside the hole, securing it firmly.
